Beauty

BEAUTY – Khalil Gibran (Prophet)

And a poet said, "Speak to us of Beauty."

Where shall you seek beauty, and how shall you find her unless she herself be your way and your guide?

And how shall you speak of her except she be the weaver of your speech?

The aggrieved and the injured say, "Beauty is kind and gentle.

Like a young mother half-shy of her own glory she walks among us."

And the passionate say, "Nay, beauty is a thing of might and dread.

Like the tempest she shakes the earth beneath us and the sky above us."

The tired and the weary say, "beauty is of soft whisperings. She speaks in our spirit.

Her voice yields to our silences like a faint light that quivers in fear of the shadow."

But the restless say, "We have heard her shouting among the mountains,

And with her cries came the sound of hoofs, and the beating of wings and the roaring of lions."

At night the watchmen of the city say, "Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the east."

And at noontide the toilers and the wayfarers say, "we have seen her leaning over the earth from the windows of the sunset."

In winter say the snow-bound, "She shall come with the spring leaping upon the hills."

And in the summer heat the reapers say, "We have seen her dancing with the autumn leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her hair."

All these things have you said of beauty.

Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,

And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.

It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,

But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.

It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,

But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears.

It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,

But rather a garden forever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.

People of Orphalese, beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.

But you are life and you are the veil.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But you are eternity and you are the mirror.

Love

LOVE – From Khalil Gibran (Prophet)

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them.

And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

EU Visa Headache!!!

SCHENGEN
VISA

I go to Germany for 14
years, every year I visit the Frankfurt Mess Fair. I am exhibitor company for 5
years too.

Normally if
you are Turkish citizen, EU countries ask many documents from you for visa
application.. As I am businessman, I know which documents I have to prepare and
I arrange them clearly and apply my visa…

Since 1993,
till now, the longest visa they gave to me is 6 months!!! Even though I am
businessman, I am exhibitor at their own exhibitions, I can`t get more than 6
months from EU countries.

This year
is getting worse than before… I have got a VISA INVITATION from Frankfurt
Paperworld Fair directly to be given to German Consulate for easier visa
application. As I am exhibitor this would help me to solve visa problems.

I have
arranged all documents as usual and sent to German Consulate. I had put my
ticket copy, hotel reservation details inside the visa application documents
too. The fair would begin on 24th January so I had arranged the
ticket for 23rd morning and I reserved my hotel too. I paid all of
these by cash and confirmed them.

I had a
picture taken with white background a they had asked last year, they told me
they need a BIOMETRIC PICTURE, so I took a biometric picture in a studio….They said
they ont accept that photo and I have to take it exactly with the dimensions mentioned!
SO I went to another studio and took the picture they asked…

Finally all
my documents were ready and I sent them to consulate for getting my visa.

I got a bad
news from travel agent on 22nd January, they said the consulate gave
me visa beginning at 24TH JANUARY!!! But 24th January is
the beginning day of fair!!! How will I go and arrange my booth? And I have
alrrady bought ticket and hotel!!!

I asked my
staff to call consulate and tell them the situation.. I had a ticket and hotel
and if I don’t fly on 23rd I will cancel them and lose a lot of
money.. and the most important thing is I must o on 23rd as I have
to prepare my booth at fair! The consulate staff had shouted at my staff!!!
They said HOW CAN I CONFIRM MY TICKET AND HOTEL WITHOUT WAITING THEM TO STAMP
MY VISA!!   They don’t care if I am exhibitor, I have
confirmed ticket, hotel etc. They only think they are KING! And we are servant?????

I had to
cancel my ticket of 23rd January. I bought a new ticket for 24th
January… My booth at hotel will be empty for one day as I will arrive at the
first day of the exhibition….

As a
Turkish citizen, it is so funny that we are at CUSTOM UNION with Europe countries.. They use the Turkish economy as they
need and they get cheaper price items from our factories. They use the Turkey at custom
union but when it comes to EU MEMBERSHIP they don’t want us… They only need
economic partnership which they earn only..

I don’t want
to become EU member… and I  hate the HUMILIATION
shown to us in visa procedures!!!

When The Children Cry

White Lion – When The Children Cry

Little child
Dry your crying eyes
How can I explain
The fear you feel inside
´cause you were born
Into
this evil world
Where man is killing man
and no one
knows just why

What have we become
Just look
what we have done
All that we destroyed
You must build
again

When the children cry
Let them know we
tried
´cause when the children sings
The new world
begins

Little child
You must show the way
To a better day
For all the young
´cause you were
born
For the world to see
That we all can live
In
light and peace

No more presidents
And all the
wars will end
One united world under god

When
the children cry
Let them know we tried
´cause when
the children sings
The new world begins

What
have we become
Just look what we have done
All that we
destroyed
You must build again

No more
presidents
And all the wars will end
One united world
under god

When the children cry
Let them know we
tried
´cause when the children fight
Then we know it
ain´t right
When the children break
Let them know
we´re awake
´cause when the children sings
The new
world begins

Saddam is dead…..

I never loved Saddam, he was terrible leader, because of his bad management thousands of innocent people had been killed or died… The Gulf Wars, Iran-Iraq War are an example of this stupid management…
We all know that Saddam was not alone in his bad behaviours.. USA was always behind him under the table… The sold him guns, they pressured him for wars, they gave the secrets of other countries to him too.. He was a puppet in fact.. They used him in best ways for their own profit….. And we also learn that Saddam was a freemasonry too…
Finally USA entered Iraq and they don`t need Saddam any more.. So they squeezed him until his last drops and now they killed him in FAST MOVEMENT…even not fast movement, we can say URGENT movement…
They did not let him talk about secret connections..If he began talking he should really change he world history too.. But they knew that…they wanted silence…so he is killed…
Who was in charge of his execution? Shiites… Shiites are another way of islam religion. Iran is mainly Shiite and Saddam is not loved by shiis… USA gave the right to these people to execute Saddam on his death sentence…
USA always say human rights human rights but the guys who kill Saddam were all psychos. They behave all the bad ays to that guy at his last minutes…Saddam was going to di few minutes later but those crazy guys always tried to make him angry. He tried to pray in his last moments, they did not even lt him finish his last sentence….!
I told you at the beginning, i don`t love Saddam…He made big mistakes… We the Turks also lost a lot of things becaus of his mistakes made in Iraq…I don`t accept his behaviours…But…I don`t accept american behaviour too…Iraq belongs to Iraqis…Yankee must go home!!!!
They can`t even execute their death sentence in good ways in Iraq, how will they give peace to iraqi people than?????

CHARITY WEB SITE

As you know we have the charity organisation to help poor people….The website address is:
I tried my best to increase the traffic to that website till today…
What haven`t I tried?
– Paid to google for advertisement.
– Sent mails to thousands of mail users.
– Opened yahoo mailgroup
– Put link of the site banner to many websites
– tried to put advertisements..
None worked…… The general visitors to this website is daily 30. Only 30!
I know the reason…The problem is the SUBJECT of the website is not interesting to anyone…TO HELP POOR PEOPLE is not what people like to see at a website… They like to see something funny, something simple…If the website would be about an actor`s life it would have thousands of clicks per day… If it was a picture site with nudity inside than the clicks would be hundred thousands too….

People do not like to see the poor people news, they dont like to look at the problems of other people…That is the biggest reason forour website…

The other problem is advertisement…People like to visit a site which is WELL KNOWN…to be well known you have to be famous, to be famous you have to be on MEDIA…But it needs MONEY! We use all our money to help poor peoples` needs…

It means our website will not have thousands of visitors ANYTIME!!!

TO HELP PEOPLE

I had many adventures in my life till today, i think the most interesting adventure of my life is to apply for a charity organisation to help poor people.

In 1993, i asked my very close friends to help me to apply for a legal charity organisation and found volunteers to help us and we finaly accepted as a charity organisation by our goverment.

We began helping to 25 families in first months, we were going to visit the families first, we were checking if they are real poor or not and if we find them real poor than we were giving food packs to feed them for 3 months. Each food pack were filled with 17-18 kgs of very useful things as rice, sugar, oil, soup, olives, biscuit, etc. And we were giving each person 1 pack of food, so it would be enough for all family members as we were giving 4 packs of this food packs for a family of four.

We were very happy to help those people, we were not caring whatever they are trusting or whatever their etnicity were…for us to be poor was enough reason for helping…

All the costs of those foods were coming from our volunteers` helps. We were not disturbing people to give us help as we knew it is now a fair way of asking help. We were not beggars either, we were helping to the poors of everybody, in that case they should come and help us themselves. But it never happened …. Even the people who never helped us, asked us to help the poor around them and even they were complaining us why we could not send the food on time, they should understand that the money coming from volunteers were not enough to feed everyone on time, sometimes we had to lend money from friends to give the foods on time… Noone were caring our troubles in fact. IT WAS OUR DUTY TO HELP PEOPLE, without helping a penny, people were quarreling us for our helps on time!

The goverment cares the charity organisations, they control our everything very carefuly. ALready we had to care all the small things as we should not make any mistake, otherwise our charity would be closed, we should even go to jail if we make mistaken things.

We had our website and we had added our bank details there, so that someone who wants to send money should do it through bank as it was very legal way of help, but one day the police called us and asked why we had put the bank details on the web page, we had to go to the police station to answer it. It was not legal to put bank details without goverment acceptance. We did not know it really. All our bank accounts were locked by police control as they accepted us as illegal money appliers. The funny thing is there were only 10 USD amount of money in all our accounts! In fact noone were helping us, even the police officers were surprised and laughed us when they saw 10 USD value at our account.

We had to care every step we go ahead. we had to check the law carefuly, we had to do everything in legal system. We were in nervous situation as we were between the goverment control, poors, volunteers, attackers to us were also around us. We never would understand those attackers, they were thinking us as terrorists as we were helping poor, they were sending us mails and swearing to us, they were asking to power behind us, they were thinking us as communists etc etc. We were tired of all those stress aorund in fact.

Whatever we did was accepted as simple things, what we had done?
– Reached more than 1000 families
– Helped 150 families continuously
– Gave foods every 3 months
– Sent 1 ton of coal to every family on winter
– Gave school help to students
– Gave lots of clothes to families
– Sent packs of books to schools of poor villages
– Gave household items to the poor families from the volunteers
– Found job to more than 5 families
etc etc

What we had done? nothing……

FINALLY; To open a charity organisation to help the poor is a very big problem… We continue our helps still, we know it is our duty to continue help without asking anything from them. We do it for our GOD, in our religion it is said to help humans for the name of GOD is the biggest pray you can make. We know to walk under the heavy rain at night is much difficult than walking under sunny road, we are just few volunteers who is still fighting for the poverty.

I am proud of all those volunteers as every one of them are fighting with not only poors but around too… To kill a person is very easy, can you make a half dead person alive? Can you? They do…….

We all want to fall in love. Why?
Because that experience makes us feel completely alive,
where every sense is heightened,
and every emotion is magnified.
Our everyday reality is shattered
and we are flying into the heavens.
It may only last a moment, an hour, or an afternoon,
but that doesn’t diminish its value,
because we are left with memories
that we treasure for the rest of our lives.

Speak low if you speak love.
William Shakespeare, Much Ado about Nothing, ACT II Scene 1.

Man is torn away from his primary union with nature, which characterizes animal existence. Having at the same time reason and imagination, he is aware of his aloneness and separateness; of his powerlessness and ignorance; of the accidentalness of his birth and death. He could not face this state of being for a second if he could not find new ties with his fellow man which replace the old ones regulated by instincts. Even if all his physiological needs were satisfied, he would experience his state of aloneness and individuation as a prison from which he had to break in order to preserve his sanity. (…) the necessity to unite with other living beings, to be related to them, is an imperative need on the fulfilment of which man’s sanity depends. This need is behind all phenomena which constitute the whole gamut of intimate human relations, of all passions which are called love in the broadest sense of the word
Erich Fromm, The Sane Society

There is a comfort in the strength of love
‘Twill make a thing endurable
Which else would overset the brain
Or break the human heart.

However it is debased or misinterpreted, love is a redemptive feature. To focus on one individual so that their desires become superior to yours is a very cleansing experience.

For love … has two faces; one white, the other black; two bodies; one smooth, the other hairy. It has two hands, two feet, two tails, two, indeed, of every member and each one is the exact opposite of the other. Yet, so strictly are they joined together that you cannot separate them.
Virginia Woolf

You know it’s love when you want to give joy and damn the consequences."
Frank Herbert, God Emperor of Dune
When we understand that man is the only animal who must create meaning, who must open a wedge into neutral nature, we already understand the essence of love. Love is the problem of an animal who must find life, create a dialogue with nature in order to experience his own being.
Ernest Becker

To love someone is to isolate him from the world, wipe out every trace of him, dispossess him of his shadow, drag him into a murderous future. It is to circle around the other like a dead star and absorb him into a black light.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Perfect love is rare indeed –
for to be a lover will require that you continually
have the subtlety of the very wise,
the flexibility of the child, the sensitivity of the artist,
the understanding of the philosopher, the acceptance of the saint,
the tolerance of the scholar and the fortitude of the certain.
Leo Buscaglia

For one human being to love another:

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer;
no disease that enough love will not heal;
no door that enough love will not open;
no gulf that enough love will not bridge;
no wall that enough love will not throw down;
no sin that enough love will not redeem…
It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble;
how hopeless the outlook; how muddled the tangle; how great the mistake.
A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.
If only you could love enough you would be
the happiest and most powerful being in the world…
Emmet Fox

If I place love above everything, it is because for me it is the most desperate, the most despairing state of affairs imaginable.
André Breton

Love seeketh only self to please,
To bind another to its delight,
Joys in another’s loss of ease,
And builds a Hell in Heaven’s despite.
William Blake

I f thou must love me, let it be for nought
Except for love’s sake only. Do not say,
I love her for her smile … her look … her way
Of speaking gently … for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and, certes, brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day-
For these things in themselves, Beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee-and love so wrought,
May be unwrought so.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning

The desire for possession is insatiable, to such a point that it can survive even love itself. To love, therefore, is to sterilize the person one loves.
Albert Camus

Love is the extra effort we make in our dealings with those whom we do not like and once you understand that, you understand all. This idea that love overtakes you is nonsense. This is but a polite manifestation of sex. To love another you have to undertake some fragment of their destiny.
Quentin Crisp

John Dryden, Amphitryon

Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned,
Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.
William Congreve, The Mourning Bride

Romantic love, in pornography as in life, is the mythic celebration of female negation. For a woman, love is defined as her willingness to submit to her own annihilation…. The proof of love is that she is willing to be destroyed by the one whom she loves, for his sake. For the woman, love is always self-sacrifice, the sacrifice of identity, will, and bodily integrity, in order to fulfill and redeem the masculinity of her lover.
Andrea Dworkin

If only the strength of the love that people feel when it is reciprocated could be as intense and obsessive as the love we feel when it is not; then marriages would be truly made in heaven.
Ben Elton

Well, love is insanity. The ancient Greeks knew that. It is the taking over of a rational and lucid mind by delusion and self-destruction. You lose yourself, you have no power over yourself, you can’t even think straight.
Marilyn French

Love is often nothing but a favorable exchange between two people who get the most of what they can expect, considering their value on the personality market.
Erich Fromm

At any rate, let us love for a while, for a year or so, you and me. That’s a form of divine drunkenness that we can all try.
F. Scott Fitzgerald

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but
from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions
May wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams
As the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you
So shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth
So is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses
Your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and
Shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Franklin P. Jones

Love is also like a coconut which is good while it is fresh, but you have to spit it out when the juice is gone, what’s left tastes bitter.
Bertolt Brecht

Madame, it is an old word and each one takes it new and wears it out himself. It is a word that fills with meaning as a bladder with air and the meaning goes out of it as quickly. It may be punctured as a bladder is punctured and patched and blown up again and if you have not had it it does not exist for you. All people talk of it, but those who have had it are marked by it, and I would not wish to speak of it further since of all things it is the most ridiculous to talk of and only fools go through it many times.
Ernest Hemingway, Death in the Afternoon, ch. 11

He who wants to do good, knocks at the gate; he who loves finds the gates open.
Rabindranath Tagore, Thakur

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it…. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.
Erica Jong

Love (understood as the desire of good for another) is in fact so unnatural a phenomenon that it can scarcely repeat itself, the soul being unable to become virgin again and not having energy enough to cast itself out again into the ocean of another’s soul.
James Joyce, Notes to the play Exiles

A man has only one escape from his old self: to see a different self-in the mirror of some woman’s eyes.

People who are not in love fail to understand how an intelligent man can suffer because of a very ordinary woman. This is like being surprised that anyone should be stricken with cholera because of a creature so insignificant as the comma bacillus.
Marcel Proust, Remembrance of Things Past, vol. 2, "Swann’s Way: Swann in Love"

Love: Two minds without a single thought.
Philip Barry

Many people when they fall in love look for a little haven of refuge from the world, where they can be sure of being admired when they are not admirable, and praised when they are not praiseworthy.
Bertrand Russell

I regard as a mortal sin not only the lying of the senses in matters of love, but also the illusion which the senses seek to create where love is only partial. I say, I believe, that one must love with all of one’s being, or else live, come what may, a life of complete chastity.
George Sand

Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs,
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers’ eyes,
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers’ tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet.
William Shakespeare

Men have died from time to time, and worms have eaten them, but not for love.
William Shakespeare, Rosalind, in As You Like It, act 4, sc. 1.

The fickleness of the women I love is only equalled by the infernal constancy of the women who love me.
George Bernard Shaw

Love is free; to promise for ever to love the same woman is not less absurd than to promise to believe the same creed; such a vow in both cases excludes us from all inquiry.
Percy Bysshe Shelley

When desire, having rejected reason and overpowered judgment which leads to right, is set in the direction of the pleasure which beauty can inspire, and when again under the influence of its kindred desires it is moved with violent motion towards the beauty of corporeal forms, it acquires a surname from this very violent motion, and is called love.
Socrates, Quoted in: Plato, Phaedrus.

For it is the suffering flesh, it is suffering, it is death, that lovers perpetuate upon the earth. Love is at once the brother, son, and father of death, which is its sister, mother, and daughter. And thus it is that in the depth of love there is a depth of eternal despair, out of which springs hope and consolation.
Miguel de Unamuno

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love. Everything is united by it alone. Love is God, and to die means that I, a particle of love, shall return to the general and eternal source.

Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.
Andy Warhol

When one is in love, one always begins by deceiving one’s self, and one always ends by deceiving others. That is what the world calls a romance.
Oscar Wilde, Lord Henry, in The Picture of Dorian Gray, ch. 4 (1891). The same words reappeared spoken by Lord Illingworth in A Woman of No Importance, act 3.

I do not think that what is called Love at first sight is so great an absurdity as it is sometimes imagined to be. We generally make up our minds beforehand to the sort of person we should like, grave or gay, black, brown, or fair; with golden tresses or raven locks;-and when we meet with a complete example of the qualities we admire, the bargain is soon struck.
William Hazlitt

Mine ear is much enamoured of thy note;
So is mine eye enthrallèd to thy shape;
And thy fair virtue’s force perforce doth move me
On the first view to say, to swear, I love thee.

Or he falls out of love with you
It keeps you together until maybe you fall in again.

Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists… When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.
Goncourt

We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.

A relationship is like a rose,
How long it lasts, no one knows;
Love can erase an awful past,
Love can be yours, you’ll see at last;
To feel that love, it makes you sigh,
To have it leave, you’d rather die;
You hope you’ve found that special rose,
Cause you love and care for the one you chose.

Louis ARAGON
